John was the son of John Anderson Roach Sr. & Rachel NIER. First wife was Lucretia OLIVER, second was Sarah Evaline FISHER Gault. ∼ John Roach died last Friday after a lingering illness caused from a complication of diseases. He was aged 63 years, 2 months and 27 days. The funeral was held Tuesday at 2 o'clock at the home in north Corning and was conducted by Rev Jay Kirkendall. Interment was made in Walnut Grove cemetery. John Anderson Roach was born in the state of Ohio, July 1, 1844. In 1862, when a young man of 18 years, he responded to the call of his country and enlisted in Co- C, 85th Ohio. Later he was married to Miss Lucretia Oliver, who died about 32 years ago. To them were born four children, two of whom survive their parents. They are Mrs. Claude Peairs, of Norton, Kansas, and Mrs. Rachel Demmit, residing in Missouri. He was remarried September 6, 1877, to Mrs. Sarah E. Gault, at Corning. To this union nine children were born and all but one, Blanche Agnes, survive their father. They are Mrs. Dakota Leibert and Clyde Irwin Roach, residing at Sargent, Nebraska; James W. Roach, who is now in Canada; John M., Sarah Bell, Homer Andrew, Fred I., all at home. Mr. Roach was a good neighbor, a patient, unassuming man and leaves many friends. He was a member of the G A. R, and always took pleasure in anything pertaining to the post. Friends of the family deeply sympathize with them in their sorrow.
