Mrs. Claude Peairs passed away from this life at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Homan, in our city, Sunday evening about 10 minutes of nine o'clock. Funeral services will be held this Wednesday afternoon at the Christian church at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. W.C. Miles, pastor of the Federated church. .Interment will be made in the Walnut Grove cemetery. Mrs. Peairs, formely Miss Vinnie Roach, was born near Afton June 24, 1870, being 50 years of age last June. She was the daughter of John and Lucretia Roach, former residents of Corning. She was married to Emerson Claude Peairs in Corning on the 25th of September, 1889. Mr. Peairs was captain of Company K during the Philippine war. After the war he and his family resided in Vona, Colo., and he passed from this life at that place about nine years ago. To Mr. and Mrs Peairs seven children were born. They are Homer and Lee Peairs of Creston; Mrs. Jessie Selling of Tulsa, Okla.; Mrs. Harry Homan, of Corning; and Chester of Carl vicinity, and Irene and Miriam, who lived with their mother. Beside the children Mrs. Peairs is survived by two sisters, Mrs Stella Kirkpatrick, of Carl, and Mrs. Anna Dimmit, of Downey, Cal.; also two grandchildren, Glenn and Hubert Homan, of Corning. About eight or nine years ago Mrs. Peairs was injured in a runaway and has since suffered with an injured knee. She was in Creston recently and had the injured member lanced, then came to Corning and was prepared to locate in Carl, Wednesday she was taken ill and passed away on Sunday.
