McCASHLAND, CHARLES IRWIN—Charles Irwin McCashland, son of Benjamin C. and Cynthia L. McCashland, was born in Grafton, Fillmore county, Nebraska, August 10, 1872. He passed away after a short illness at the Lutheran hospital in York, Neb., Sunday night, April 13, 194, at the age of 68 years, 8 months, and 3 days. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Ogg, January 12, 1897, and to this union were born six children, Ruth, Doris, Harold, Donald, Phyllis and Bette, all of whom survive him. Besides his children and five small grandsons, he leaves to mourn his departure four brothers, Frank of Lebanon, Neb., Walter of Chugwater, Wyo., Ray of Carleton, Neb., and Ivan of Geneva, Neb.; and one sister, Mrs. George Pickerill of Geneva. One brother, Clyde, and one sister, Belle, preceded him in death. His life, with the exception of three years spent in Chugwater, Wyo., had been spent if Fillmore county, in and around Geneva, where he had many friends, and neighbors. His first wife, Elizabeth preceded him in death in 1925, leaving a family of small children to whom he has been a kind and loving father. October 9, 1927, he was united in marriage to Ora L. Ogg, cousin of Elizabeth, at Superior, Neb., with whom he lived happily for nearly six years, she being claimed by death September 28, 1933. Until four years ago he had devoted his life to farming. Then, forced by ill health to leave the farm, he came to Geneva, where he engaged in teamwork. With his children, he united with the Methodist church in Geneva in 1925, of which church he remained a member until his death. He was an active member of the Modern Woodman lodge, a cheerful, friendly man, a good father, friend, and neighbor, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Funeral services were conducted at the First Methodist church in Geneva Wednesday afternoon, April 16, at 2 o'clock, the pastor, Rev. W. B. Pardun, officiating. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
