Records show first name to be Charles. McCASHLAND, C. HAROLD—C. Harold McCashland was born to Charles Irwin and Elizabeth Francis Ogg McCashland on March 2, 1911, at Fairmont, Fillmore county, Ne., and passed away on September 13, 1980, at the Fillmore county hospital in Geneva at the age of 69 years. He was one of six children in the family. Harold attended school in Grafton. Among many business interests, he is most remembered for operating the Venus Wholesale Oil company in Geneva. He was a lifelong resident of Fillmore county. He was married to Florence Brower of Geneva on July 11, 1935 and to them four children were born. Harold and Florence celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary before his death. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Betty Leonard. He is survived by the following: wife, Florence and sons, Dick and Donn of Lincoln; daughters Mrs. Tom (Coryle) Cook of Lincoln and Mrs. Alan (Mary) Theobald of Ohiowa; brother, Donald of Eugene, Ore., and sisters, Mrs. Steve (Ruth) Watmore of Yuma, Ariz., Doris Stewart of Spokane, Wash., and Mrs. LaVelle (Phyllis) Svatos of York; and 11 grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer and Son funeral home in Geneva at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 16, with Rev. Woodrow W. Wilson officiating. Mrs. Norval Lomax accompanied Curt Prater who sang, “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere.” Pallbearers were Delbert Sorge, John L. Evans, Raymon Gough, Orville Dunkin, Lowell R. Heath and Louis Domeier. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The Nebraska Signal 18, September 1980 page 18.
