McCASHLAND, CASS CLYDE *CLYDE*--Cass Clyde McCashland was born in Fillmore County, Nebraska May 10, 1879. He died at St. Francis Hospital, Grand Island, Neb., at 8:10 a.m., Monday, October 26, 1925. Death followed an operation for ulcers of the stomach. He was married to Floy Huston in Fillmore County, February 10, 1904. They resided on a farm a number of years, later moving to Geneva. Mr. McCashland enlisted in the Fifth Nebraska Infantry June 18, 1916, and served on the Mexican border during the dispute with that country. For the past two months, Mr. McCashland had been employed as a blacksmith by the Great Western Sugar Beet Co., at the sugar factory at Grand Island. Previous to that, he had been employed in the Burlington shops at Wymore and at the Smith laundry at Crete. Mr. McCashland is survived by his wife and four daughters, Marie, Ruby, Helen and Jean; his mother, Mrs. B. C. McCashland; five brothers, Frank of Lebanon, Neb., Charles of Grafton, Walter of Chugwater, Wyo., Ray of Carleton, and Ivan of Geneva; two sisters, Mrs. Belle Love of Wisner and Mrs. Ethel Pickerill of Geneva. One daughter, Zada Merle, died August 12, 1907. The body arrived in Geneva at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, and was taken to the home of the deceased's mother. The funeral was held at the home at 2:30 Wednesday. Rev. H. G. Langley of the Geneva Methodist Church officiated. Interment was in the Geneva Cemetery. The Woodman lodge of which the deceased was a member, took charge of the body on its arrival in Geneva, and assisted throughout the funeral. The Nebraska Signal October 29th, 1925 page
