Son of Jacob Patek and Mary Vackar Obit-Gonzales Inquirer Apr. 20, 1944 James Patek Succumbs At Home Thursday Funeral Arrangements Pending Arrival of Grandson James Patek, 74-years-old Thursday, died at his home Thursday morning at 6:20 after a few hours illness. Funeral arrangements have not been made pending the arrival of his grandson, Charles Patek, from San Diego, California. Patek was born on September 28, 1870, in Czechoslovakia, both of his parents having been natives of that country. He had been a resident of Gonzales for some twenty-five or thirty years. Survivors are his wife, three sons, William of Gonzales, Raymond of Victoria, and James Jr., of Beaumont; four daughters, Mrs. Sam Boothe and Miss Lillian Patek of Corpus Christi, and Mrs. Jack McCabe of Victoria; two brothers John and Jacob of Shiner; four sisters, Mrs. J. V. Mertlik of Ca;California, Mrs. Barbara Ziegel of Shiner, Mrs. Mary Damek of Houston, and Mrs. Stasy Kurtz of Sweethome; and eight grandchildren. Obit-Gonzales Inquirer Apr. 21, 1944 pg. 1 Funeral Services For James Patek Friday Afternoon Funeral services for James Patek, who died here Thursday, were held Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Patek home, with Rev. W. Wolf officiating. Patek was born on September 28, 1870 in Czechoslovakia, both of his parents having been natives of that country. He had been a resident of Gonzales for some twenty-five or thirty years. Survivors are his wife, three sons, four daughters, two brothers, four sisters and eight grandchildren. Charles Patek, who is in the Navy in San Diego, California, and upon whose arrival funeral plans were pending, will be unable to come for the funeral. Pall bearers were Dennis Steubin, John Hajek, Earl Bouldin, M. S. Spooner, Ray Bright and Harper Robinson.
