Marie "Mary" Vackar was born on February 2, 1850 in Netolice, Czech. In 1868 she married Jakub Patek and to this union were born 9 children: John Patek, Sr.; b.12-26-1869, d.6-6-1953 James G. Patek; b. 9-28-1870, d.4-20-1944 Theresa Patek (Mertlik); b.9-13-1872, d.8-4-1972 Mary Patek (Velek); b.2-2-1875, d. 3-28-1946 Barbara Patek (Siegel); b. 12-4-1878, d. 12-23-1966 Anna Patek; b. 1882, d.1-28-1894 Anstazia Patek (Kurtz); b. 4-6-1886 /, d.1-10-1966 Ludmila Patek (Horkey); b. 9-16-1886?, d. 8-24-1940 Jacob J. Patek; b. 7-3-1890, d.6-3-1952 The Patek family came to America landing at Galveston in September 1890. They continued their journey inland and settled in the Moulton-Flatonia area. Later they moved to the Shiner community. Mary passed away on July 17, 1932 at the age of 82. (Death date of 1936 on tombstone is incorrect.)
