Bio
Tevis Washington age 22 is found living with his widowed father William Jernigan and three unmarried grown siblings on the 1850 Robertson County TN census. He marries Josephine Emson Roney 17 Jan 1857 in that county. Tevis and Josephine have 5 children before she dies age 30, a few months after giving birth to their youngest son, who himself dies that year. Tevis next marries Mary A Swann, 12 Jan 1873 Robertson County. It is Mary's first marriage, and there are no additional children born. Tevis and his family are found on the 1860, 1870 and 1880 census. After his death, his widow Mary is found living with her stepson William Thomas "Tommie" Jernigan on the 1900 census. Tevis Washington is buried in the same Jernigan family cemetery as his parents and grandparents.
