Bio
Lucy is shown in family trees as the daughter of Billison Tarver and Selah Lassiter, born in Anson County NC. She marries William Thomas Jernigan about 1807 in NC. His father was also named William Thomas Jernigan and fought in the Revolutionary War. Lucy's husband will fight in the War of 1812, after which the family together with William's parents remove to Cross Plains, Robertson County TN. Lucy and William have at least 10 children, the first four born in NC and the remaining born after the move to TN. Children born in NC are Braten S, Elisha Tarver, Celia F (m. Green Fields, moves to TX) and William Thomas Jernigan III. Lucy's younger children born in Robertson County TN are: James A, Margaret A (m. James Barry), Malinda (m. W T Barry), Martha A (m. Riggan), Sterling Brown and Tevis Washington. At least 7 of Lucy and William's children are buried in the Jernigan Cemetery in Jernigan Town, Robertson County TN. With William's parents probably being the earliest, there are at least 4 generations of Jernigans buried in that small cemetery.
