Services for Cyril Joe Smajstrla, 88, were at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rhineland, Texas. The Revs. Harry Fisher, Pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Seymour, and Bob Strittmatter, pastor of St. Joseph's Catholic Church officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. He died Thursday, April 24, 1986 in the Seymour Hospital. He was born June 7, 1897, in McClennan County. He and Anne Michalick were married February 27, 1937, in Rhineland. they lived in Rhineland until 1948 before moving to Baylor County. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Seymour and a retired farmer. Survivors included his wife; a son, Albert of Seymour; two daughters, Georgia Kleypas of Houston and Betty Lou Barrett of Garland, Texas; a stepson, Alvin Michalick of Munday; two brothers, Floyd of Hillsboro, Texas, and Steve of Abbott; two sisters, Mary Pavlas and Betty Zaplac of Abbott, Texas, 23 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
