Bio

Wesley Joe Smaystrala, 79, of 620 Garden Drive died Tuesday afternoon in a local hospital. Rosary was recited Wednesday at Kotch Funeral Home Chapel in West. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church in West. Rev. Ed Rabroker of Waco officiated. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Mr. Smaystrala was born in West and had lived in Waco 36 years, He was a retired farmer and a Catholic. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Agnes Smaystrala; a son, Johnny Smaystrala of Fairfield, Calif., three daughters, Mrs. Ardith (Estelle) Jones of Seagoville, Mrs. Henry (Annette) Soukup of Lorena and Mrs. Jack (Evelyn) Newman of Houston; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Pavlas and Mrs. John (Betty) Zapalac, both of Abbott, and Mrs. Aug. (Millie) Zapalac of West; three brothers, Cyril Smaystrala of Seymour, Floyd Smaystrala of Hillsboro and Steve Smaystrala of Abbott; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
