Whitney Messenger Thursday, March 24, 1989 OMA YOUNG Oma Young, age 62, of Whitney, died Thursday, March 16, 1989 in a Whitney Hospital. Services were Saturday, March 18, 1989 at Marshall and Marshall Chapel in Whitney. Reverend Eddie Booth and Reverend Larry Shelley officiated. Burial was in Bethlehem Cemetery. Mrs. Young was born August 11, 1926 in Whitney. The daughter of James Perry and Mamie Ivy Shelley. She lived most of her life in Whitney. She married Glenn Young May 10, 1943. She was preceded in death by her father in 1980. Mrs. Young was a housewife. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Whitney. She is survived by her husband, Glenn Young of Whitney; her mother, Mamie Shelley of Whitney; one son James Young of Columbus, Texas; one daughter, Glenda Braud of Ponchatoula, La; two sisters, Adeline Bush of Whitney and Bettye Ryno of Whitney; three brothers, A. D. Shelley, Perry J. Shelley, and W. A. Shelley, all of Whitney; four grandsons and one great-grandson.
