Bio

This is an undocumented burial as no tombstone has been found. She was the daughter of Thomas and Sylvia (Breeding) Hurst. She was married in about 1830 to George H. Cheek. He being a school teacher near her home. In 1840 she gave birth to their one and only child; George Hampton Cheek. She and her son would die during the typhoid fever epidemic of 1859/1860. Big Spring Primitive Baptist Church minutes for June 1859 state that sister Olla Cheek departed this life 25 of June 1859 at 8 O'clock in the morning.
