Bio

James D. Cannon was born in Graves County, Kentucky in September of 1833/1834. He marrid Sarah M. Salmons on January 5th, 1856 in Henry County, Missouri. According to his application for his Civil War pension, he moved to Texas in October of 1861 and enlisted in the Confederate Army in Dallas, Texas on March 12th, 1862. He served as a private in Company A., 31st Regiment in the Texas Cavalry until the spring of 1865. He married Mary Jane Hall on Apr. 27, 1862 in Dallas Co. Texas. He applied for his pension on July 26th, 1909 while living in Hamilton County, Texas. James states in his application, that he moved to Hamilton County, Texas, Post Office, Hico in the spring of 1876, he is 75, has no property and no occupation. James D. Cannon died on June 25th, 1922 and was buried the same day in the State Cemetery in Austin, Texas. His death certificate states that he was born in Kentucky in 1833.
