Bio
Susan Almyra Cannon was born on April 20, 1852 in Henry County, Missouri. She never married and lived on the old Cannon Home Place with her brothers, Arthur and John Henry. She died on August 1st, 1913 in Henry County, Missouri and is buried at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery in Henry County, Missouri. *The Windsorite, August 7th, 1913. We are sorry to hear of the sudden death of Miss Cannon Friday night, August 1st. *The Windsorite, August 14th, 1913. It is with sadness and sorrow that we chronicle the death of Miss Almyra Cannon. Her death was very sudden and sad. Miss Almyra had spent the day on Tebo with a lot of neighbors at a fish fry, and she was feeling as usual and enjoying the day so well that her brother had to remind her it was time to go home. After returning home, she retired to bed as usual. In a few minutes a neighbor came in to borrow some matches. She got up to get them and fell to the floor. She was carried to the bed and Dr. Finley of Leesville sent for, but in a few minutes life was extinct. Which shows that while we are in the midst of life we are in the midst of death. Miss Almyra was 61 years old and lived all her life on the place where she died. She leaves four brothers and a host of friends and relatives to mourn their loss. She was a faithful member of Mt. Olivet Church since 1879. She was indeed a good Christian lady and lived her religion every day before the world. She always had a kind word for everybody, friendly and sociable and I don't know of anyone that will be more missed than this good woman. Her funeral was preached by James Briggs, to a very large assembly of people and her remains were laid to rest in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. May we all imitate her Christian life and meet her in Heaven.
