Bio

Alice "Anna" Cannon Jenkins was born Apr. 5, 1842 in Benton Co. Missouri. She was the daughter of John R. Cannon and Ferbis E. Farmer Cannon. Alice grew-up in Henry Co. Missouri and married Silas "Albert" Jenkins on Nov 1, 1859 in Henry Co. Missouri. After the Civil War, Albert and Anna moved to Miami Co. Kansas where Albert was a preacher and farmer. They lived around Johnson Co. and Miami Co. Kansas for over 25 years before moving to Fort Scott, Bourbon Co. Kansas. From there they moved to Leavenworth, Kansas where Anna died on Aug. 3, 1901 from cancer of the womb. Anna was buried on Aug. 5, 1901 at Mt Muncie Cemetery, Lansing, Leavenworth, Kansas. Albert and Anna were the parents of seven children: Thomas Jefferson Jenkins, Josephine Jenkins Huston, Martha "Mattie" Jenkins Scheffler, John A. Jenkins, William Edward Jenkins, Walter C. Jenkins and Harvey A. Jenkins.
