Bio

John Foster Kindle, 74, died at 3:45 p.m. Sunday at the family home, 1810 I N.W. after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church by Rev. Gordon Highfill, pastor, and Jimmy Smith, pastor of Cee Vee Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Lowell and Thurman Dement. Troy and Roy Rogers, Will H. Smith and Frank Mitchell. Interment will be in the Olympus Community Cemetery by Newberry Funeral Home. Mr. Kindle was born May 4, 1887 at Mineola, Texas and retired from farming about nine years ago because of health. He had farmed in the Olympus Community since 1906 when he came here from Mineola and served three terms at Olympus as County Commissioner in the 1920's. He also served as Sunday School Superintendent of the rural Baptist Church of that community for many years. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife, Effie of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Grace Seal of Childress: five sons, Clifford of Amarillo, Robert of Muleshoe, Harold of Pampa, Louis of Mercedes, California; brothers, Elzy and Walter Kindle, both of Childress, Delmas Kindle of Lefors and Syl Kindle of Gladewater; three sisters, Mrs. Ella King of Pampa, Mrs. Mary Hall of Odessa, Mrs. Icy Lankford of Cress, California; 27 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
