Find A Grave Contributor Michelle Setlik, #48601942 provided the following: Jens Nielsen Obituary - Grand Island Independent, July 24, 1974 WOLBACH – Jens L. Nielsen, 83, died Saturday at a St. Paul hospital. Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church at Wolbach with the Rev. Donald Nelson and the Rev. Elton Walth officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery at Wolbach. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday, at Jacobsen Funeral Home at St. Paul. Mr. Nielsen was born May 3, 1891, at Lonstrup, Denmark, the son of Carl and Christina Larsen Nielsen. He received his education and grew up in Denmark. At the age of 19, he came to the United States and settled at Tescott, Kan. He came to the Wolbach area in 1913. He was married to Bertha Cassel at Beverly, Kan., on Feb. 4, 1914. The couple lived and farmed near Wolbach. Survivors include his widow, Bertha; six daughters, Mrs. Martha Bahensky of Palmer, Mrs. Edna Gay of St. Paul, Mrs. Elsie Wondercheck of Fullerton, Mrs. Esther Swanson of Wolbach, Mrs. Elnora Cook of Cassville, Mo., and Mrs. Evelyn Leeper of Ogallala; four sons, Carl and Bert of Wolbach, Jens Jr., of Arvada, Colo., and Paul of Omaha; two half-sisters and one half-brother in Denmark; two half-brothers, Harold Nielsen of Moorehead, Iowa, and Paul Nielsen of Freeville, N.Y., 37 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a step mother, one brother, two sisters, one half-sister, three children, two grandchildren and one great-grandson.
