Bio
Jens Junior Nielsen, 87 of St. Paul, formerly of Bella Vista, Arkansas, died at his home surrounded by his family on Monday, May 24, 2022. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M. at Jacobsen Greenway Dietz Funeral Home in St. Paul on Saturday, May 28, 2022. A Community Celebration of his life will be at 4 pm on Sunday, May 29th at the Wolbach Community Center. A Private Family Inurnment will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Wolbach, Nebraska. Jens was born March 22, 1935, to Bertha Cassel and Jens L. Nielsen. Jens was born at home on the Howard County homestead north of Cushing, the 12th of 13 children. He attended a rural grade school and graduated from Cushing High School in 1952 - one of four students to graduate that year. The dry years of the 1950s discouraged him from farming so he enlisted in the Air Force in 1955. After basic training in Texas he was shipped to Portland, Ore., where received training in computer sciences which turned into a successful 45-year career. He met his first wife, H. Junell Rice, in Portland, Ore., where they were married and lived for 16 years and then moved to Colorado for 22 years. After Junell's death in 1989, Jens moved to Arkansas for a new job. He was married to (Johnson) in Arkansas in 1998. Jens was an avid golfer and loved to read and watch old movies - especially westerns. Big band dancing, tractors, gardening and playing cards were some of his favorite pastimes. He is survived by his wife, Susan of St. Paul; daughter and son-in-law, Gaynell and Nick Belloni of Arkansas; granddaughter, Jasmine Belloni of Arkansas; and brother, Paul Nielsen of Wolbach. He was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters, Martha Bahensky, Edna Gay, Elsie Wondercheck, Esther Swanson, Evelyn Leeper and Elnora Cook; and two brothers, Carl Nielsen and Bert Nielsen.
