Find A Grave Contributor Michelle Setlik provided the following: Obituary - Bertha Nielsen, Grand Island Independent April 26, 1983 WOLBACH – Bertha Nielsen, 88, of Palmer, formerly of Wolbach, died Monday at a Central City hospital. Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach. The Rev. Elwood Hipple will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery at Wolbach. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3-5 p.m. at Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul and from 7-9 p.m. at Jacobsen-McIntyre Funeral Home in Wolbach. Mrs. Nielsen was born December 16, 1894, at Beverly, Kan., the daughter of William and Martha Rhoads Cassel. She received her early education and grew up near Beverly. On Feb. 4, 1914, she married Jens L. Nielsen at Beverly. They farmed near Wolbach. Mr. Nielsen died in July 1974. In 1975 she moved to St. Paul. In May 1978 she moved to Palmer to a care home. Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Martha Bahensky of Palmer, Mrs. Edna Gay of St. Paul, Mrs. Elsie Wondercheck of Belgrade, Mrs. Elnora Cook of Cassville, Mo., and Mrs. Evelyn Leeper of Ogallala; four sons, Carl and Bert of Wolbach, Jens Jr. of Arvada, Colo, and Paul of Thornton, Colo; 38 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, three infant children, five brothers, two sisters, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
