Thanks to contributor #48601942; Grand Island Independent, October 13, 2000 BELGRADE -- Elsie Wondercheck, 80, of Belgrade died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton. The Rev. Jurdan Counts will officiate. Burial will be at the Main Cemetery in Belgrade. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton. Mrs. Wondercheck was born March 4, 1920, to Jens and Bertha (Cassel) Nielsen at Howard County. She grew up in the Cushing area and attended rural schools. She married Art Wondercheck on March 4, 1939, in St. Paul. They farmed and lived on a farm east of Wolbach until 1946 when they moved to Nance County and farmed north of Fullerton. In 1980, they moved into Belgrade. She was a member of the Plum Creek Club. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, especially her flowers, shopping and traveling. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Delmer of Fullerton and Jerry of Omaha; one daughter, Bonnie (Mrs. Frank) Ricceri of Omaha; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; four brothers, Carl of Wolbach, Bert of St. Paul, Jens of Rogers, Ark., and Paul of Denver; and two sisters, Martha Bahensky of Palmer and Edna Gay of St. Paul. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Esther Swanson, Elnora Cook, and Evelyn Leeper; and one grandson.
