From The Palmer Journal, Thursday, January 5, 1961, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney: Funeral Services For K. D. Bahensky - K. D. Bahensky, 90, a resident of this locality since 1884, died Thursday evening, December 29 in the St. Paul hospital after a lingering illness... Kosmo Daman Bahensky was born in Saline County on September 27, 1870 on a homestead near the Blue River. In 1884 the family migrated to Merrick County where they purchased a farm 10 miles southeast of Palmer. There he grew to manhood. He received his education there and at the Baptist College in Central City. He also attended the Grand Island Business College and the State University where he first became interested in politics. He was a school teacher in Saunders county for 12 years. On August 23, 1894 he was united in marriage to Emily Kaspar. To this union two daughters and three sons were born. In 1906 he purchased a farm southwest of Palmer which has been the family home, excepting for the 7 years he served as Howard County Clerk. He was also on the Selective Service Board during World War I. Mrs. Bahensky passed away 5 1/2 years ago. AT the time of her death she and Mr. Bahensky had been married 61 years. On December 29th he passed away at the Howard County Hospital at the age of 90 years 3 months and 2 days. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Julia Gibson of Omaha and Mabel of Palmer, three sons, Leonard of St. Paul, Ray of Palmer and Clinton of Omaha; one sister, Mrs. Augusta Harschberger of California and one brother, Steven of Palmer; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one sister and two brothers.
