From The Palmer Journal, May 4, 1950, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney: Joseph Bahensky, son of Joseph and Mary Bahensky, was born at Crete, Saline County, Nebraska, on August 15, 1871, and passed away Thursday, April 27, in the Coolidge Hospital in Palmer. He spent his early years on the farm in Saline county until 1884, when with his parents, brothers and sisters, he moved to a farm in Merrick County, about 10 miles southeast of Palmer, where the family lived until the spring of 1912. Having sold the farm in Merrick County, they moved and located on a farm in Gage Valley in Howard County, near Palmer. He lived with his parents until their death and then made his home with his sister, Anna, on the same farm until her death. Then because of failing health he made his home with a nephew, Ray Bahensky. As he never married, he leaves to mourn his death, three brothers, W. J., K. D., and Stephen, who all live near Palmer, and one sister, Mr. Augusta Harshberger, living at Sunland, California, besides 13 nieces and nephews and many friends and neighbors.
