From The Palmer Journal, February 7, 1924, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney: Joseph Bahensky, Sr. son of Joseph and Anna Bahensky, was born in the little village of Kland in the province of Bohemia in the Republic of ChechoSlovakia, March 19th, 1893 (sic), and died January 29th, 1924, aged 84 years, ten months and ten days. In 1863 he was married to Mary Diech, who preceded him in death August 11, 1922. They came to the United States in the summer of 1869, locating in Saline County on the Big Blue River near the present town of Crete, Nebraska, where they lived until 1881, when they moved to the western part of Saline county to make their home on a quarter section of prairie land purchased from the railroad company. In 1885 he moved with his family to Merrick county, Nebr., locating near the present town of Archer, and there lived until 1912, when they moved to Gage Valley, where they have since resided. The deceased was the father of eight children, two of who preceded him in death. The surviving members of the family are: Miss Anna, W. J., K. D., Joseph and Stephen Bahensky, all of Palmer, Nebr., and Mrs. H. W. Harshberger of Los Angeles, who lament the loss of their faithful and loving father. The funeral was held at the home Thursday, January 31st, Rev. C. A. Kircher of the Presbyterian church of St. Paul officiating, and the remains were laid to rest in Rose Hill Cemetery, at Palmer, Nebr.
