From The Palmer Journal, July 13, 1944, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney: Miss Anna Bahensky died at a St. Paul hospital Friday, July 7, at the age of 79 years and 22 days. She had been in failing health for some time and was taken to the hospital about a week before her death. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. V. R. Bell of St. Paul were held Monday afternoon at the McIntyre funeral home in St. Paul, and burial was made in Palmer Cemetery. Pall bearers were Leroy, Melvin, Lyle, Elton, Clinton and Raymond Bahensky, all nephews of the deceased. Anna Bahensky was born June 15, 1865 in a little village about ten miles from Prague, Bohemia. At the age of three she came to America with her parents and settled at Crete, Nebraska. Later they came to Gage Valley in Howard County. For the past 30 years she made her home with her brother, Joseph, on the farm one half mile west of where the Bahensky Midway service station is now located. Besides many other relatives, Miss Bahensky is survived by one sister and four brothers: Mrs. Augusta Harshberger of Roscoe, California, James, Joseph, Steve and K. D. Bahensky of this locality. Miss Bahensky was known as a good neighbor, kind and accommodating.
