Samuel Sylvester 'Ceburn' Pringle was the 14th child of John Alexander Pringle, but the second child of John's second wife Mary Susan Overstreet. Samuel had an older brother name Samuel but different middle name. To avoid being called Samuel, his nickname was 'Ceburn' His older brother was nicknamed 'Sid'. Ceburn when shortened to 'Ceb' was still sometimes confused with 'Sid'. The Pringle's lost their Lauderdale Co., MS plantations during the Civil War. In about 1867, their family set out for Texas in wagons and got just to East Texas when several family members contracted some illness. The parents died leaving about 8 - 9 children orphaned. They had relatives in Limestone Co. where the remaining children were cared for by relatives and family friends until each was married and started their own families. In 1870 at age 17, Ceburn was living with the Pamplin Family in Falls Co. TX. Samuel married Mrs. Ione Gray Bean on 11 Jan 1878, in Cameron, Milam Co., TX and he and Ione had five children, continuing to farm and live in the Marlow community until their deaths. Samuel lived with his daughter, Pearl Manville in Fort Worth, Tarrant Co. TX when he died. Info from his Texas Certificate of Death Name: Samuel S.
