Bio
This memorial is for Lela Pringle, the youngest daughter of John A. & Susan Pringle. Lela has been missing for many years. It is hoped that someone will contact the originator or member of the family. Lela Pringle was the last child born to John A. & Mary Susan Overstreet Pringle. Lela is thought to have been born just before her family migrated from MS to TX or she could have been born in route to East Texas. We know that her parents and several siblings fell ill in route to Texas and died but made it into East Texas. Lela and 8 siblings made their way to Limestone Co. TX where family members and friends took the orphaned children in and raised each until they married and began their families. Known surviving children in Texas were: Matthew James, Samuel Sylvester 'Ceb', William Alexander 'Bud', George Kennady, Sarah Catherine 'Katy', Mary Alice, John Wesley & Lela Pringle. We know that Lela in the 1870 Census, Marlin, Falls Co., TX, Lela age 4 is living with John Newton, wife Melissa, George Godfrey & Betty Pope. Also in the 1880 Census, Limestone Co. TX, Lela age 13 is living with her older married sister Katy Pringle Buttrill. We are assuming that Lela either died or married in about 1885.
