Manila (Nellie) Michaud passed away Friday, November 20, at the age of 89 years, 6 months and 28 days. Nellie was born April 22, 1898, near Bostwick, Nebraska. She was the second born of six children of James and Jane Jones Buckles. She spent her entire life in Nuckolls County. On October 20, 1920, she married Henry Michaud. To this union two daughters and twin sons were born. They lived in the Nora community 19 years, then moved to the Superior vicinity. She was a resident for the Good Samaritan Center in Superior for the past 4 years. Surviving are her four children, Mrs. Leonard (Helen Marie) Erickson of Superior, Mrs. Gene (Donna Lee) Holsteen of Nelson, CW4 Bobbie Dean of Lincoln, and Billie Lee of Fremont; 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Floyd (Elizabeth) Zeigler of Superior. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Henry, and four brothers. Nellie thoroughly enjoyed her family and loved to have them near. She will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 25, 1987, at 11:00 a.m. from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior with Pastor Ken Fairbrother officiating. Music was provided by Brenda Frye as soloist singing "You'll Never Walk Alone" and "O Rest In The Lord" with Carlita Price as organist and accompanist. Casketbearers were Ronald Holsteen, Dennis Holsteen, Todd LaVelle, Robert Michaud, Gary Michaud and John Swain. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Superior. Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior, Nebraska, was in charge of the arrangements. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, December 3, 1987; pg. 10
