The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, July 20, 1944; pg. 1 James Solomon Buckles, son of Rachel and William C. Buckles, was born at Mount Pulaski, Ill., July 19, 1868, and departed this life at his home in Ruskin, Nebr., July 16, 1944, aged 75 years, 11 months and 26 days. He was united in marriage to Jennie Jones of Ames, Kansas, February 25th, 1892. To this union six children were born-four sons and two daughters. Mr. and Mrs. Buckles lived the first year of their married life near Burr Oak, Kansas. Then they moved to a farm south of Bostwick, where they lived until 1900, when they moved to a farm near Superior. Mr. Buckles is survived by his wife, his six children: C.E. Buckles of Ruskin; Marion of the home; Ira of Sidney; and Guy of Vancouver, Wash.; Mrs. Henry Michaud of Superior and Mrs. Flora Zeigler of Bostwick; also eighteen grandchildren, three brothers: Everette Buckles of Salem, Oregon, E.J. Buckles of Chicago, and Ray Buckles of Ames, Kansas. Mr. Buckles was a staunch believe in the Christian faith and became a member of the Christian Church at Mt. Pulaski, Ill., when a small lad. The funeral was held at the Community Church in Ruskin, July 17 at 2:30, Rev. C.M. Foust officiating. Mrs. Emerson Powell and Miss Eileen Aikin sang. The interment was in the Superior cemetery.
