Bio
Helen Marie Erickson, the daughter of Henry and Manilla (Buckles) Michaud, was born on March 28, 1923 in Nora, Nebraska. She passed away on November 17, 2018 at Saint Simeon’s in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 95 years, 7 months, 20 days. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Leonard, brothers Bob and Bill Michaud, and sister Donna Holsteen. She is survived by four daughters, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Helen lived her entire life in Nuckolls County Nebraska, graduating from Superior High School in 1941. On June 3, 1945, she was united in marriage to Leonard Wayne Erickson. To this union four daughters were born: Linda Halvorson (John) of Grand Junction, Colorado; Sharon Schaub (Steve) of Ramona, Oklahoma; Phyllis Erickson of Hastings, Nebraska; and Diane Pfeifer (David) of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Leonard and Helen Marie enjoyed life on the farm, raising livestock and a variety of crops from wheat to sunflowers to garden produce. They together participated in such projects as the replanting of trees at the Nebraska National Forest. Helen was a 75-year member of the Nora and Superior Methodist Church’s. For many years, Leonard and Helen Marie enjoyed traveling to the warmer southern states in the winter and to Colorado in the summer. Likewise, their daughters and families enjoyed many visits to the farm. Those times will be greatly missed. Helen Marie enjoyed sharing her love of gardening, flowers, birds, and cooking with her grandchildren: Matt Halvorson, and great-grandchildren Cade, Stella and Mattie; Britta Nilsen, husband Andrew, and great-grandchildren Anders and Liv; Sigrid Bowen and husband Rob and great-granddaughter Ellyanna; Kent Schaub, and great-grandson Mark; and Zachary Pfeifer. Funeral services were held on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 11:00 AM from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Dorothy Smith officiating. Music was “In The Garden,” “How Great Thou Art,” and “You Are My Sunshine,” with Vickie Nielsen as the vocalist and Carlita Price as her accompanist. Visitation was held on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 with the family present from 6-8 to greet friends. Pallbearers were Jay Buckles, Gary Michaud, Sam Rempe, Ron Rempe, Matt Rempe and Dennis Holsteen. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.
