The Hebron Journal-Register (Hebron, NE), Wednesday, September 16, 1953; pg. 7 OBITUARY— MARY JANE BUCKLES Mary Jane Jones, daughter of Alexanlrer (sic) and Elizabeth Jones, was born near Marshaltown (sic), Ia. March 13, 1872 and departed this life at Hastings, Nebr. Sept 6, 1953 aged 81 years, 5 months, and 23 days. She was united in marriage to James Solomon Buckles, Feb. 25, 1892 at Ames, Ks. To this union were born six four sons and two daughters. Mr. and Mrs. Buckles lived the first years of their married life near Burr Oak, Ks. Then they moved to a farm south of Bostwick, Nebr. where they lived until 1900, when they moved to a farm near Superior, Nebr. Her husband and son Marion preceded her in death. Mrs. Buckles is survived by five children C. E. Buckles of Hebron, Ira and Guy Buckles of Washington state, Mrs. Henry Michaud of Superior and Mrs. Floyd Ziegler of Guide Rock, also 18 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and one brother, Wallace Jones of Rice, Ks. and two brother-in-laws E.J. Buckles of Chicago and Ray Buckles of Ames, Ks. and a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Buckles was a staunch believer in the Christian faith and became a member of the Christian Church early in life. Mrs. Buckles was a kind and loving Mother and neighbor, willing to help a friend in need when ever possible. Her pleasant disposition endeared her to all who knew her. Funeral services were held at the Denny Funeral Home Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1953 with Rev. Ed. Brilwell officiating. Burial Was Evergreen cemetery (sic).
