Bio

Donna Lee Holsteen, the daughter of Henry and Manila (sic) (Buckles) Michaud, was born on March 18, 1926 at Nora, Nebraska. She passed away on March 11, 2004 at Bryan LGH Medical Center in Lincoln, NE at the age of 77 years, 11 months and 23 days. Donna attended Nora grade school and graduated from Superior High School. She was united in marriage to Clifford "Gene" Holsteen on December 10, 1944 at Belleville, KS. This union was blessed with 4 children, Ronald, Michael, Marcia and Dennis. Gene and Donna enjoyed traveling together; they would go south for the winters. Donna was a member of the Nelson Community United Church of Christ, and was active in 4-H, and the Republican Valley Sod Busters Camping Club. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Gene on September 10, 2000. Survivors include her sons, Ronald D. and wife Connie of Lincoln, NE; Michael Lee and wife Lea Ann of Florence, SC; daughter, Marcia Kay Renier of Madison, WI; and son, Dennis Keith and wife Susan of Lincoln, NE; one sister, Helen Marie Erickson and husband Leonard of Superior, NE; and two brothers, Bobby Michaud and wife Dorothy of Lincoln, NE and Billy Michaud and wife Marcie of Fremont, NE; 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held on Monday, March 15, 2004 at 2:00 PM at the Nelson Community United Church of Christ in Nelson, NE with Rev. Dr. Stephen Berry officiating. Music was "In the Garden" and "Tears In Heaven", with Tom Jensen as soloist and congregational hymn "The Old Rugged Cross" with Virginia Drohman as organist. Pallbearers were her grandchildren, Todd LaVelle, Chad Holsteen, Tim Renier, Clint Chapman, Patrick LaVelle and Scott Thomas. Honorary Pallbearers were her grandchildren, Shana Holsteen, Christa McNett, Lisa Thomas, Kelly Chapman, Ben Renier, Rachael Holsteen, Dillon Holsteen, Dalton Holsteen and Courtney Holsteen. Memorials may be given in care of the family. Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery at Nelson, NE. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, March 18, 2004; pg. 9
