OBITUARY DEWEY SHAVER Dewey Milton Shaver 79, a retired merchant, member of the Dayton Masonic Lodge 512, F&M, veteran of World War I and member of the First Baptist Church, died in a local hospital Saturday. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bessie Schilds Shaver; one brother, Wallace Shaver,; four sisters, Mrs. W. L. Brewer, Harriman; Mrs. Boyd Manis, Evensville, Mrs. Kenneth Young, and Mrs. Thomas F. Guthrie, both of Dayton; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held Sunday, July 24, at the Furst Baptist Church with the Rev. J. B. Morris officiating. Interment in Buttram Cemetery. Arrangements were by Sawyer's Funeral Home. THE HERALD-NEWS, July 1977 Dewey Milton Shaver married Bessie Pauline Schild on 22 Sep 1922, in Rhea Co, TN, the sister of Bertha Agnes Schild Shaver, who were the daughters of Mike Schild and Martha Louiza Phillips Schild. Dewey attended Maryville College in Maryville, TN and he served in the U S Army during W W I. He and Bess owned the Ben Franklin Variety Store in Dayton for many years. They had no children.
