OBITUARY Magnolia Shaver Manis Evensville resident Magnolia Shaver Manis, of Evensville, died Thursday, June 15, 2000, at Rhea County Nursing Home in Dayton. She was 88. Born March 2, 1912, in Rhea County, Mrs. Manis lived in Rhea County most of her life. A 1930 graduate of Rhea Central High School, she attended Bryan College and Tennessee Wesleyan College. Mrs. Manis retired from Robinson Manufacturing Company after 25 years of employment. She was a member of Concord Union Church in Evensville. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Boyd G. Manis, and parents, Henry Houston and Martha Burnett Shaver. Survivors include her daughters, Patty Phillips and Barbara Johnston, both of Evensville; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Margie Young of Chattanooga. Funeral services were conducted Saturday [June 17, 2000] in the chapel of Vanderwall Funeral Home, with Revs. Shane Johnston and Clyde Fitzgerald officiating. Burial followed in Buttram Cemetery in Dayton. Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton was in charge of the arrangements. THE HERALD-NEWS, Sunday, June 18, 2000
