Jimmy J. Polansky, age 88, of West, passed away early Thursday afternoon, March 1, 2018 at West Rest Haven in West. A rosary will be recited 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation to follow until 5:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek and Rev. Darrell Kostiha as celebrants. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, conducted by West Veterans Honor Guard. Jimmy was born January 20, 1930 in West, the son of Frank C. and Victoria (Snokhous) Polansky. He graduated from St. Mary's school and attended West High School. Jimmy served his country in the United States Army at Fort Hood. On April 14, 1956 he was united in marriage to Patsy Ruzicka in Tours. Patsy preceded him in death on March 9, 2002. Jimmy worked for General Motors, General Tire and Rubber Company and M&M Mars until his retirement. He was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where he helped with church picnics. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #478, SPJST Lodge #54 and Knight of Columbus Council #2305. Jimmy always loved eating at the old Friendship Cafe. He enjoyed listening to Czech music, gardening, fishing, deer hunting and drinking a pivo and playing dominoes with friends. Jimmy was also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Denise Linch; brothers, Frankie, John and George Polansky; and sisters, Frances Polansky, Mary Brem, Ruth Kocurek and Rosalie Kolar. Survivors include his children, Gail Zaruba and husband Stephen of Houston, David Polansky and wife Michele of West, Vicki Webb and husband Mike of Elm Mott and Karen Duncan and husband Richard of Aquilla; a brother, Alphonse Polansky and wife Kay; a special friend, Doris Rekieta; grandchildren, Paige and Emilee Polansky, Chad Zaruba and wife Yurida, Catherine and Oliver Zaruba, Dustin, Tyler and Valerie Webb and David and Krystal Duncan; great-granddaughters, Zoe and Sophie; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Paige Polansky, Dustin Webb, Tyler Webb, Gary Polansky, Chad Zaruba, Oliver Zaruba, Norman Payne and Harry Kolar.
