Son of George Blahuta
Joe Blahuta, 92, Passes Away Thurs. After Long Illness Joseph Blahuta, 92, was buried at Tobola Cemetery Saturday following funeral services conducted at 2 p.m. at Aderhold Chapel in West. Robert Cevenka officiated at the funeral services. Mr. Blahuta had been ill for the past five years and more seriously the past two weeks. He died in a Waco hospital last Thursday night. A native of Czechoslovakia, he came to the United States at the age of 9 with his father. They settled near Praha, Texas. Later, Mr. Blahuta came to the Penelope community where he lived for some 60 years. Most of his life was devoted to agriculture on his farm between Mount Calm and Penelope. During the last 5 years of his life Mr. Blahuta made his home in Penelope proper. Despite his remarkable advanced age, a gray hair couldn't be detected in Mr. Blahuta's head. His familiar mustache took on a silver sheen, but his hair remained jet black. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Frances Tobola Blahuta; four sons, Luther Blahuta of Oregon, only one of the 11 children who was unable to attend the funeral services, Emil Blahuta and Joe Blahuta of Penelope, George Blahuta of Waco; seven daughters, Mrs. Albina Prikryl of Penelope, Mrs. Julie Sudych of Dallas, Mrs. Anna Roberts of Little Rock, Arkansas, Mrs. Marie Sudych of Dallas, Mrs. Esther Sutkowski, Mrs. Margaret Donaldson, and Mrs. Frances Kopecky of Waco; one half-brother, Charlie Blahuta of West; four sisters, Sister Rufina of Houston, Mrs. Barka Mikulik and Mrs. Philomena Vanek, both of West, and Mrs. Teresa Stanislav of Cameron; 22 grand children, and 15 great-grandchildren.
