John Sulak, Age 88, Dies John Sulak, 88, of Whitney, formerly of West, died Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 25, in a Temple hospital. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, the Rev. Gene Shepard officiating. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Mr. Sulak was born Aug. 18, 1890, in Hill County. He had lived in West 85 years before moving to Whitney in 1977. He served with the U.S. Army in France during World War I. In September 1920, Sulak married Mary Zvespar in West. Mr. Sulak was a retired farmer and a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. He was also a member of American Legion Post 478 and VFW Post 4819 in West. Survivors include three sons, Wesley R. Sulak of Arlington and John P. Sulak and Joe C. Sulak, both of West; five daughters, Mrs. Anna J. Chabisek of San Antonio, Mrs. Agnes Adamson, Mrs. Henrietta Barton and Mrs. Leona Hanzlicek, all of West, and Mrs. Frances Webb of Arlington; two brothers, Albert Sulak of Hillsboro and Phillip Sulak of Elm Mott; a sister, Mrs. Henry Jurek of Waco; 39 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
