V.J. Smajstrla Funeral Services Held Monday Funeral services for Vaclav J. Smajstrla of Route 1, Abbott were held at Abbott Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18. Rev. W. Pechal officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery at West. Rosary was recited at Aderhold-Moore Chapel in West at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Smajstrla died in a Hillsboro hospital Friday, Dec. 15. He was 69. He had been ill a week, and was in the hospital about 12 hours when he died. Mr. Smajstrla was a farmer. He was born in the West community and had lived here and near Abbott all of his life. He was a 50-year member of K.J.T. Survivors are his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Margaret Klaus of West, Mrs. Mary Olsovsky, Mrs. Martha Neill and Mrs. Helen Sustala, all of Abbott; three brothers, Charlie Smajstrla, Joseph Smajstrla and John Smajstrla, all of West; three sisters, Mrs. Joe Holy and Mrs. Frank Kubacak of West and Mrs. Thomas Scanio of Waco; 16 grandchildren, one great-grandchild. Active pallbearers were Ed Klaus, Albert Olsovsky, Hollis Neil, Raymond Sustala, Joe Smajstrla, John Smajstrla.
