John Smajstrla Funeral Rites Held Thursday Funeral services for John Jerome Smajstrla were held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Church of the Assumption in West. Rev. James Quilter officiated with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold-Moore Funeral Chapel. Mr. Smajstrla had been ill for the past several months. he was co-owner of the Custard King in West. He had lived here all his life. Survivors include two brothers, Charles J. Smajstrla and Joe J. Smajstrla, both of West; three sisters, Mrs. Joe L. Holy, Sr., Mrs. Frank A. Kubacak, both of West, and Mrs. Thomas J. Scanio of Waco. Active pallbearers were Ed Klaus, Raymond Holy, Joe Holy, Jr., Raymond Kubacak, Charles J. Smajstrla, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were VFW members of the West Post.
