Bio

Martha B. Neill, 81, of Abbott, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2005, at West Rest Haven. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Thursday, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott, by Janice Kaluza. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, with Monsignor Isidore Rozycki as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Martha was born in Hill County, Texas, to the late Vaclav and Bozena Smajstrla. She attended Abbott and Brooken schools. On February 27, 1946, she was united in marriage to Hollis Neill in Abbott. She worked for J.M. Woods Manufacturing in Waco and Hillsboro and was a cook for Abbott School for many years and also did babysitting. Martha was a respiratory therapist at West Community Hospital for more than ten years until her retirement. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Martha loved working crossword puzzles, watching soap operas and listening to Czech music. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis Neill, who died on February 15, 2002; an infant son, Patrick P. Neill, who died in 1955; and a sister, Margaret Klaus. Survivors include sons, Robert R. Neill and wife, Betty Jo, of West, Thomas J. Neill and wife, Nancy, of Elm Mott, Billy J. Neill and wife, Sherrie, of Chalk Bluff, James J. Neill and wife, Darlene, of Abbott and John D. Neill and wife, Lisa, of Tours; daughter, Patricia A. Kolar and husband, Raymond, of West; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Olsovsky and Helen Sustala, both of Abbott; and numerous nieces and nephews.
