Mrs. Joe F. (Lillie) Matus, 77, died Saturday morning March 29, 1980 in West Community Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West, the Rev. Gene Shepard officiating. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Kotch Funeral Home Chapel in West. Mrs. Matus was born in Fayette County but lived in West most of her life. She married Joe Matus May 1, 1922 in West. He died in 1965. Survivors include a son, Lt. Col. Robert Matus of Fort Worth; five daughters, Mrs. Henry (Martha) Svacina and Mrs. Marcella Kaska, both of West, Mrs. Edward (Carrie) Kaska of Arlington, Mrs. Donald (Lillian) Teeple of Hubbard and Mrs. Bill (JoAnn) Wiese of Waco; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Domesle of Penelope, Mrs. Dan (Leona) Nors of Abbott and Mrs. Alphonse (Betty) Urbanovsky of Aquilla; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren . Pallbearers were Eddie Kaska, Craig Wiese, Mark Teeple, Joe Lednicky, Richard Matus and Ted Urbanovsky. The West News, West, Texas, Volume 90, No. 14, Edition 1, Thursday, April 3, 1980, page 4.
