Bio

Albert V. Kolar, age 88, of West, formerly of Penelope, passed away early Wednesday afternoon, January 31, 1996 a West Rest Haven in West. A rosary was recited at 11 a.m. Feb. 3 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption by the Rev. Ed Karasek. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11:15 a.m. that day at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with the Rev. Ed Karasek as Celebrant. Burial followed at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Mr. Kolar was born January 3, 1908 in Hill County, the son of John and Karolina Kolar. He married Sophie Urbanovsky on October 25, 1937 in West. She preceded him in death on October 26, 1990. They lived and operated a farm in Penelope for most of his life, until they moved to West in 1981. He was a former president and trustee for the Penelope Independent School District and a former director for the Penelope Co-op Gin. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2305 in West, the K.J.T. and the Hill County Farm Bureau. He was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. He enjoyed gardening at his home in West. He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Claudia and Jim McDonald of Duncanville, Gladys and Fred Babin of Corpus Christi, and Carolyn and Dan Englert of Mobile, Alabama; one brother, J.V. Kolar of Hillsboro; two sisters, Agnes Divin of Wimberly and Wilma Kolar of West; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Aderhold Funeral Home in West was in charge of arrangements.
