Bio

Sophie Kolar, age 82, of West, passed away late Friday evening, October 26, 1990 at West Rest Haven. A rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Ed Karasek. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Mrs. Kolar was born March 31, 1908 near West, the daughter of Frank and Agnes Urbanovsky. She married Albert V. Kolar on October 25, 1937 in West. At that time they moved to Penelope where they were actively engaged in farming, church, school and community life, until they retired and returned to West in 1981. She was a member of the K.J.Z.T. Society No. 11 and the Catholic Daughters of America. She was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. She is also preceded in death by her brothers, J.A. and Ernest Urbanovsky; and her sisters, Albina Urbanovsky, Carrie Dvoracek, and Janie Milberger. Survivors include her husband, Albert Kolar of West; three daughters and sons-in-law, Claudia and Jim McDonald of Duncanville, Gladys and Fred Babin of Corpus Christi, and Carolyn and Dan Englert of Mobile, Alabama; five grandchildren, Angela Englert, Carrie McDonald, and Albert, Andy and Anna Babin; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Marvin Dvoracek, Jodie Hannes, Joe Frank Divin, Gary Beseda, Danny Urbanovsky and Amos Cocek.
