Mrs. August (Anna) Kocian, 90, of West died Tuesday at West Rest Haven. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Monsignor George Doskocil officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Kotch Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Kocian was born July 26, 1894, at West and lived there all her life. On Sept. 2, 1894, she was the first person to be baptized in the first Catholic Church in West. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Altar-Rosary Society and the KJZT Society. She was married to August Kocian in 1914. He died in 1969. Survivors include four sons, Albin Kocian, Gus Kocian and Walter Kocian, all of West, and Bernie Kocian of Waco; four daughters, Haddie Kocian, Mrs. Adolph (Willie Mae) Volcik, Mrs. Raymond (Tracie) Schroeder and Mrs. Floyd (Irene) Wolf, all of West; 25 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Floyd Duane Wolf, John Schroeder, Larry Volcik, Gus Kocian, Jr., Roger Kocian, Richard Kocian, George Kocian, and Walter Kocian, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Raymond Gene Schroeder, Jr., Mark Kocian, John Kocian, Larry Kocian, Michael Kocian, Eddie Ray Kocian and David Schroeder.
