Bio
Albin L. Kocian, age 74 of West, passed away Friday evening, June 19, 1998 in a Waco hospital. A rosary was recited at 10 a.m. June 22 in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Mass of Christian Burial followed at 10:15 a.m. with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, with full military honors conducted by West V.F.W. Post #4819. Mr. Kocian was born November 16, 1923 near West and had lived in the West area all of his life. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in West and the K.J.T. Society #31. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army and was a recipient of the Purple Heart, being injured in Okinawa. He was a member of V.F.W. Post #4819 of West and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a retired carpenter. Mr. Kocian married Mary Lee Kostecka November 5, 1947 at West. Survivors include his wife Mary Lee Kocian; two sons, Richard and wife Carolyn Kocian and George Kocian; one daughter, Kathy Rule and husband Marvin; three brothers, Bernard and wife Ruby Kocian, Gus and wife Evelyn Kocian and Walter Kocian; two sisters, Haddie Kocian and Irene and husband Floyd Wolf; three brothers-in-law, John Kostecka, Sr. and wife Wilma, Raymond Schroeder and Adolph Volcik, all of West; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers were Gus Kocian, Jr., David Kocian, Floyd Duane Wolf, Larry Volcik, Edwin Nors and John Kostecka, Jr. The family received visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. June 21 at Kotch Funeral Home.
