Bio
Mary Lee Kocian, 78, of West, passed away Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, at Providence Health Center in Waco. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mary Lee was born near West, Texas, to the late Joseph and Mary (Holy) Kostecka. She attended St. Mary's School. On November 5, 1947, she was married to Albin Kocian in West. Mary worked as a seamstress in West and Hillsboro and also worked as a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, traveling, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of KJZT #829 and a lifetime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. She was preceded in death by her husband, on June 19, 1998. Survivors include sons, Richard Kocian and wife, Carolyn and George Kocian, all of West; daughter, Kathy Rule and husband, Marvin, of Valley Mills; brother, John Kostecka and wife, Wilma, of West; grandchildren, Daniel Kocian, Rachel and Daniel Croll, David Kocian, Tracy and Ryan Borom, Belinda and Keith Waters, Scott and Mary Rule, Kevin and Christy Rule, and Todd Rule; her in-laws, Floyd and Irene Wolf, Ruby Kocian, Gus and Evelyn Kocian, and Walter Kocian; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
