Emil J. Jerabek Funeral Rites Held Wednesday Funeral services for Mr. Emil J. Jerabek of West were held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the West Catholic Church of the Assumption. Msgr. I.J. Valenta officiated at the Requiem High Mass. Rev. W. Pechal gave the sermon. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in West. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at his home. Mr. Jerabek died at 9 a.m. Monday in a Waco hospital. He was 71. He was a well-known businessman in West. Mr. Jerabek was born in Fayetteville, Texas, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Jerabek. His mother was the former Johanna Janak. They moved to West when he was a child. After serving in the Cavalry during World War I, Mr. Jerabek became a car dealer n West in 1918 and served in that capacity until his retirement several years ago. Emil Joseph Jerabek began a career in the automobile business as a salesperson for Ray's Ford dealership in 1918. He first sold used cars and new Whippet autos and later became a Dodge and Plymouth dealer. Around 1928 he began his own business as a Dodge and Plymouth dealer. The first place of business was in the 100 block of East Pine and then he purchased the old Holloway building across the street which is now Affiliated Grocery Store. Emil Joseph Jerabek married Marie Nemecek in1923 and they had four children: Clara Jerabek Carter, John Ernest Jerabek, Evelyn Jerabek Kunetka and Dorothy Jerabek Nichols. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and SPJST Lodge in West and a retired member of the West Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a Director of The West National Bank. Survivors include his wife, Marie Jerabek; three daughters, Mrs. Clara Carter of West, Miss Evelyn Jerabek of Houston and Mrs. Dorothy Nichols of Elm Mott; one sister, Minnie Cervenka, West; four grandchildren.
