Mrs. Emmett (Marie) Barton, age 94 of West, passed away early Thursday afternoon, February 13, 1997 at West Community Hospital. A rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 14 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Feb. 15 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with the Rev. Melvin Dornak as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Barton was born March 16, 1902 in Fayetteville, Texas, the daughter of Joseph and Vlastmila Polasek. She married Emmett L. Barton in 1925 in West. He preceded her in death on July 16, 1963. She and her husband ran Barton Cleaners in West for many years. She was also a first grade teacher at St. Mary's School in West before she retired in 1966. She was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court No. 829 and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, both in West. She is also preceded in death by a son, Lambert Barton, who died February 11, 1978. Survivors include a son, E.L. Barton and his wife Vera, of Pampa; a daughter, Celesta Dulock and her husband Tommy, of West; a daughter-in-law, Marlene Steinocher of West; a sister, Mrs. John (Leona) Nemecek of West; seven grandchildren; one step-grandchild; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Mark Barton, Paul Barton, David Barton, Kip Barton, Stephen Barton and Michael Polasek. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Steinocher, Jim Greene and Raymond Barton.
