Bio
Daughter of Chester Ferrington and his wife Adeline Curtis. Artemicia lived with her family for several years in Ohio, coming to Illinois and settling in Kelley Township of Warren county about 1850. She married James Harvey McKamy on 23 November 1854 in Monmouth. Some of the communities where the family lived were Ipava, Knoxville, Galesburg, and Monmouth. James preceded her in death on 28 August 1905 in Monmouth. "Artie" lived her last 6 years with her daughter in Sherrard. Her funeral was held there, and her body brought to Monmouth for burial with her husband the following day. Artemicia's children included sons John Wilson McKamy of Canton, James Edwin of Galesburg, and Charles A. McKamy of Seaton; daughters Belle Whipple (last known in Galesburg, probably moved to Canada), Letta Hastings of Sherrard, Emma Cora Lundin of Harvey, and Elinora Wilson of Rock Island. Two other children died young.
