Bio
Chester's death certificate states he was born in "Belfast, Mass.", which would be Belfast, Maine today, as Maine became an independent state in 1820. Belfast was in Hancock county until Waldo county was formed in 1827. Chester married Adeline Curtis on 8 June 1830 in Pennsylvania (unverified). Four of his known children were born in Pennsylvania, three in Ohio, and two in Illinois. The family arrived in Warren county, Illinois about 1850, and settled in Kelley township. While his wife married Andrew Figg in Henderson county, Illinois during 1859, no divorce papers have been located. Her second marriage appears to have been short-lived, and she returned to Monmouth to live with her children. Chester and Adeline were eventually reunited, and lived with a married daughter in the 1880 census of Monmouth, and were later buried together.
